A magical Family Day between books and stuffed animals
On Friday, November 13, 2026, the Weilerstraße City Library in Landshut transforms into a lively experience place for children and families. From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, stories, theater, creative activities, and a very special surprise await: children can let their stuffed animals spend the night among the bookshelves.
Stories come to life
In the picture book cinema, children experience well-known stories on a big screen. Images, language, and joint listening create a child-friendly learning experience and invite them to let their imagination run wild. Shared immersion in books strengthens the joy of language, concentration, and the love of reading.
Frederick on the theater stage
Starting at 3:30 PM, the play Frederick based on the children's book classic by Leo Lionni will be on the program. The guest performance by the Dinkelsbühl State Theater will be performed by Maike Frank and Luise Pahlke. The story about the little mouse Frederick encourages children to think about imagination, cohesion, and the special strengths of each individual.
Get creative and marvel together
During crafting, children can design, experiment, and develop their own ideas. Face painting adds to the fun and transforms the afternoon into a joyful family experience. Laughter, curiosity, and shared time are at the center of it all.
A stuffed animal sleepover with a special magic
The most extraordinary experience awaits among the bookshelves: stuffed animals are allowed to spend the night at the city library. What adventures will the little favorites have at night? This imaginative action combines play, reading joy, and emotional closeness. Children can unleash their creativity and discover the library from a completely new perspective.
Child-friendly, community-oriented, and free of charge
The Weilerstraße City Library sees itself as a place of meeting, learning, and relaxation for children, teenagers, and families. Regular children's afternoons, picture book offerings, and reading activities promote age-appropriate development and reading competence. The Family Day thus offers not only entertainment but also valuable learning impulses in a safe and family-friendly environment.
Admission is free. Free tickets for the play Frederick are available through event registration. For the other offerings, simply come by and experience a special afternoon together.
