Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. | Café am Dom & Menu
The Café am Dom of Lebenshilfe Landshut is one of those places where a short visit quickly leaves a lasting impression. Located at Spiegelgasse 207, in the heart of the historic old town of Landshut, the building combines enjoyment, accessibility, and inclusion in a very tangible way. Guests can find hot and cold drinks, a small selection of dishes, breakfast, lunch, and cakes, along with a cozy dining area, a romantic courtyard, and outdoor seating with a view of Trausnitz Castle. At the same time, the café serves as a workplace with a special mission: it belongs to Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V., which has been supporting people with intellectual or multiple disabilities and their families since 1967. Thus, a simple visit to the café becomes an experience that connects culinary quality, social responsibility, and a central location in the city. Those looking for Café am Dom photos, menu, opening hours, or parking will find not only practical information here but also the character of a place that is consciously open, inclusive, and close to everyday life. Menu, Dishes, and Opening Hours at Café am Dom
The menu of Café am Dom is intentionally kept manageable, but therein lies its advantage. Those who do not expect a large, confusing restaurant offering but rather clearly structured, freshly prepared dishes will feel at home here. The official site lists hot and cold drinks, breakfast, lunch, and cakes in varying options. Additionally, the laminated menu from 2024 features homemade soups, salads, and sweet classics like cakes or Kaiserschmarrn. The daily menu includes changing dishes such as corn cream soup with ajvar cream, asparagus cream soup with smoked salmon, zucchini-herb fritters with sour cream dip and salad, or salad plate with vitello tonnato starting from 11 AM. There are also several breakfast options, each combined with a hot drink. This makes the place interesting for both a quick coffee and a relaxed breakfast or lunch break. Particularly pleasant is the ordering method: guests choose at the table using an order slip, which the service staff takes, and payment is made at the register upon leaving. This keeps the process calm, simple, and easy to understand. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
The opening hours also fit the usage profile of the house. From Monday to Friday, the café is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM; it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. For visitors, this means: the café is particularly suitable for morning coffee, breakfast, lunch breaks, and early afternoon visits. The kitchen focuses on fair trade coffee and regional and seasonal products, which strengthens the positioning of the house as a conscious, high-quality, and down-to-earth city café. Especially in a location within a tourist-heavy old town, this combination of clarity and quality is important: no overloaded gastro concept, but a calm, friendly place with reliable hours and a menu that is easy to understand. Those who inform themselves about the Café am Dom menu or dishes before their visit can plan their stay very well and already know that here, not only is cooking done, but there is also a clear commitment to quality and inclusion. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
Accessibility, Directions, and Parking at Spiegelgasse
A central feature of Café am Dom is its accessibility. The official site mentions a barrier-free entrance with a door opener on the left side of the building, a wheelchair-accessible toilet, a changing table for children, under-table seating, and an elevator in the foyer. This is more than a technical detail, as it shows that the visit has been thought out for different needs. People in wheelchairs, families with children, and guests with limited mobility can use the place much more comfortably. Especially in a historic building and an old town location, such facilities are not a given. For this reason, Café am Dom is not just a place for cake and coffee but an example of functioning inclusion in everyday life. If one searches for Café am Dom accessibility, the answer is therefore clear: Yes, and with several concrete measures that facilitate the stay and are not just symbolic. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
When it comes to directions and parking, one should realistically plan for the location in the Landshut old town. The city describes the parking options in the historic city center as good but limited, and recommends primarily the large parking lot at Grieserwiese. From there, it is about a five-minute walk to the old town. Even closer is the parking garage at Wittstraße, from which the walk to the old town takes only about two minutes. Additionally, the city mentions the parking garage Altstadt/Zentrum on Mühleninsel as well as several short-term parking zones near the old town, such as Dreifaltigkeitsplatz, Neustadt, Postplatz, and Regierungsplatz. For a café visit, this means: those arriving by car should not hope for a parking spot right at the door but should expect a short walk. This is normal in the old town and makes the stay both more urban and relaxed, as one is already in the middle of the historic center. Those who include parking at Café am Dom in their route planning should leave early enough and use the official parking recommendations from the city. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Photos, Courtyard, and Castle View: Atmosphere with a View of Trausnitz Castle
Those searching for Café am Dom photos are often looking for not just an image but a mood. This is where the house scores with its location and spatial character. The official site describes a cozy dining area, a romantic courtyard, and outdoor seating with a view of Trausnitz Castle. This is a very strong image for an inner-city gastronomy: on one hand, the proximity to the old town, on the other hand, an open, almost calm courtyard character that pleasantly slows down the visit. The combination of a historic environment, a view of the castle, and a friendly café atmosphere makes Café am Dom visually very memorable. For guests who enjoy taking photos or are looking for a place with recognition value, this is a clear plus. In practice, this means: it is not about spectacular staging but about a harmonious backdrop that feels natural yet remains distinctive. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
What is particularly interesting is that the café is regularly used as an exhibition space. Lebenshilfe Landshut reports on its website about changing presentations at Café am Dom, such as the exhibition Color Palette of the Soul or showcases and projects from the Lebenshilfe environment. In 2026, an exhibition titled Visible – Voices, Colors, Life was also announced on the homepage, showcasing works by people with severe multiple disabilities from House Rainbow and House Color Play. Older contributions also refer to exhibitions taking place at Café am Dom, thus giving the space a cultural function. This makes the place even more attractive for visitors, as it can be experienced not only gastronomically but also artistically and socially. Therefore, those looking for Café am Dom photos, atmosphere, or special impressions will find here not an interchangeable backdrop but a place with changing visual language, vibrant content, and a clear connection to the inclusive work of Lebenshilfe. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/))
Inclusive Service, Shop, and 14 Workshop Places
The special profile of Café am Dom arises not only from its location and menu but primarily from its inclusive work approach. Lebenshilfe describes on its workshop page that Café am Dom has over 14 workshop places in the areas of service and cleaning. The café page adds that guests are cared for by employees with disabilities. This is an important difference from many other cafés: the visit is not just consumption but also participation and professional practice. This work situation creates structure, visibility, and real responsibility for the people employed there. It is thus not an addition but a core of the house. Those interested in Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. understand very well at this point what the institution means in everyday life: inclusive work is not abstract but directly experienceable, friendly, and professionally organized. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/einrichtungen/arbeit/unsere-werkstaetten?utm_source=openai))
Directly adjacent is also the shop of Café am Dom. There, selected products from workshops for people with disabilities from all over Germany are available, and the official site mentions examples such as children's dirndls, children's shirts, organic wines, spices, vinegars, herbal and fruit teas, handmade fashion jewelry, gift items, wooden toys, felt cushions, seasonal decorative items, bags, and candles. This significantly expands the visit beyond the café moment. Many guests may come for coffee and cake but then discover a small, well-curated shop with gift ideas and products with social added value. For search queries like workshop shop Landshut or Lebenshilfe Landshut children's aid, this connection is interesting because it shows how broadly Lebenshilfe thinks: working, shopping, lingering, and meeting merge in one place. Additionally, for events in the in-house hall, catering must be sourced from Café am Dom. This also shows that the gastronomic area is firmly integrated into the overall structure and does not just run as a side issue. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V.: History, Mission, and Offers for All Age Groups
To properly place Café am Dom, it is worth looking at Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. as the sponsor. According to the official concept, the non-profit association was founded in 1967 by committed individuals and has since represented the interests of people with intellectual or multiple disabilities and their families. The organization, along with its subsidiaries, offers social services for all areas of life and age groups in the city of Landshut as well as in the districts of Landshut, Kelheim, and Dingolfing-Landau. On the about us page, this claim is clearly articulated again: Lebenshilfe Landshut, along with its subsidiaries, advocates for the concerns of people with disabilities of all ages. This concretely means that the understanding of inclusion is not limited to one area but extends from early support through school and living to work and leisure. Thus, Café am Dom is not an isolated project but part of a larger network of support, assistance, and participation. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/fileadmin/Redaktion/Einrichtungen/Konzeptionen_Einrichtungen/Konzeption_Sonneninsel.pdf))
The size of the organization also shows that a wide range of support comes together here. A recent contribution from Lebenshilfe mentions 48 facilities, around 860 employees, and about 1,580 people with disabilities being cared for. At the same time, the concept refers to offers in the early childhood sector, such as integrative daycare centers, early support, and inclusive educational paths. This is important for the keyword themes Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. and Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. children's aid because it becomes visible that the association does not only run a café or workshop operation but has built a comprehensive social system. This also explains the special impact of Café am Dom: here, guests, employees, relatives, art enthusiasts, and passersby meet in a space that is economically, pedagogically, and socially thought out. This is, viewed soberly, a strong location idea, and emotionally, a place where inclusion is not explained but lived. Therefore, those who want to experience Landshut with social added value get a very tangible impression of what modern participation in everyday life can look like in Spiegelgasse. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/aktuelles/detail/meldung-neustrukturierung-unsere-satzung-wird-zukunftsfaehig?utm_source=openai))
Events, Hall, and Practical Tips for the Visit
Café am Dom is not only intended for spontaneous visits but is also embedded in an event structure. The official site describes a beautiful hall on the second floor of the office that can be booked for various events. The room features a baroque roof structure and thus makes an architectural statement. For booking and the exact conditions, one should contact Lebenshilfe directly. It is particularly important to note that for events in this hall, catering must be sourced from Café am Dom. This shows that the gastronomic area is not just daily business but also plays a significant role in celebrations, meetings, and formats with an event character. Therefore, those searching for Café am Dom photos or a location for smaller occasions will discover here a combination of café, shop, and event space that is very unusual yet very logical. ([lebenshilfe-landshut.de](https://www.lebenshilfe-landshut.de/cafe-am-dom-laden))
For the practical visit: pay attention to opening hours, parking options, and the old town location in advance, as this will make the stay significantly more relaxed. A short walk through the historic city center can be very well combined with a visit to the café, and the view of Trausnitz Castle or a detour to other destinations in the old town quickly turns the appointment into a small outing. Those who follow the official website will also see that the café is regularly used as a venue for exhibitions and special actions. This makes a repeated visit worthwhile, even if one has already been there once. It is also practical that Lebenshilfe publishes current notices through its social media channels and website. For visitors, this means: not only look for address and menu but also for current exhibitions, special actions, or seasonal offers. This way, a simple search for Lebenshilfe Landshut e.V. or Café am Dom Landshut becomes a visit that is well prepared and at the same time leaves room for surprises.
I ate at the Cafe am Dom. The people with disabilities who work there serve customers very attentively and friendly. There's a small menu from which you can choose and order using an order slip. The menu is served very quickly, and your order arrives shortly afterward. The food and drinks are of very high quality, well prepared, and delicious. I'll stop there every time I'm in Landshut.

The service was incredibly friendly, the food was fantastic, and the ordering system was simple and straightforward. The newly renovated premises are well-designed, and all floors are accessible by elevator. Every euro spent goes to a charitable organization, supporting people with disabilities. Highly recommended!
