Grieserwiese | Parking & Access
The Grieserwiese is much more than just a parking lot in Landshut. It is the central large parking area of the city center, a traditional fairground, and for many visitors, the quickest route between the Isar, the old town, and the festival operations. The city of Landshut locates the area at 84028 Landshut and mentions the location at Wittstraße in the parking information; at the same time, the fair website describes the Grieserwiese as an event area located directly on the Isar with a wide view of the old town and the two landmarks St. Martin and Burg Trausnitz. Those searching for grieserwiese landshut parking, address, route, or events will find themselves at a place that is practically used daily and plays a significant cultural role during the season. For visitors, it is especially important: The paths to the old town are short, the parking logic is clearly structured, and special rules apply during fairs. That is why it is worth taking a closer look at fees, closures, arrival, and special use. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/node/456))
Parking at Grieserwiese: Costs, Times, and Free Areas
If the main topic is parking, the official Landshut overview provides very concrete numbers. The front paved area of the Grieserwiese includes 742 parking spaces. There, a daily rate of 1 Euro applies from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; outside of these hours, parking is free. Additionally, there is a maximum parking duration of 10 hours, making the space particularly attractive for shopping trips, visits to the old town, or short appointments. This structure is typical for central city locations: during the day, it offers a cheap short- and day solution, while in the evenings and on weekends, the parking situation is significantly more relaxed. Those searching for grieserwiese landshut parking costs will find one of the most transparent answers in the entire city area here. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
The back unpaved area complements the offer with around 550 additional parking spaces, which, according to the city, are free of charge. This part makes the Grieserwiese particularly interesting for spontaneous visitors, as it offers a large number of parking spaces without additional fees. In total, this results in very high everyday usability: The solid front area is suitable for clear rates and planned stays, while the back area represents a cost-effective alternative, especially during high occupancy, city visits, or on weekends. For the search terms grieserwiese landshut free parking and grieserwiese parking, this is the central information. The fact that the city explicitly recommends the space as a large parking lot on its tourism page also shows how strongly this area is integrated into the city center logic as a visitor parking lot. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
An important feature concerns electric vehicles. Since April 1, 2025, electrically operated vehicles with E-plates are allowed to park for free for up to three hours in public parking lots in Landshut. However, the respective maximum parking duration of the parking lot remains in effect. For the Grieserwiese, it is particularly relevant that it is a place with day tickets: Those who stay longer than three hours must additionally purchase a parking ticket and display the parking disc visibly. This practically means that while E-cars benefit, the rules are not limitless. E-vehicles registered abroad can also take advantage of the discount if they are clearly identifiable with an official E-label. For grieserwiese landshut e car, this is the crucial, current regulation. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Those using the Grieserwiese not just for a short visit to the old town but in the context of the fair should expect different conditions. The fair website states that there is a capacity of about 200 parking spaces for cars and motorized two-wheelers at the direct visitor parking lot at the festival site. A fee of 7 Euros applies during the fair, although parking is free from Monday to Friday between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Additionally, the city refers to other free parking offers at the exhibition grounds as well as shuttle and P+R solutions. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut parking costs in connection with a fair should always distinguish between everyday parking in the large parking lot and special operations on festival days. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/anfahrt/))
Address, Location, and Route to Grieserwiese in Landshut
There are several variants of the address in the official sources that point to the same area. The city names the Grieserwiese as a location in 84028 Landshut; the parking information lists the parking lot under Wittstraße 1, while the fair website uses the event address Wittstraße 13 A. Therefore, what is more important in practice than the exact house number is that the Grieserwiese is located directly on Wittstraße and is easily accessible from there. Those searching in Maps or Navigation for grieserwiese landshut address or grieserwiese landshut maps should use the official place name Grieserwiese plus Wittstraße or the coordinates 48.53092, 12.14492. This is the cleanest solution if you want to arrive without detours. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/node/456))
For visitors, the walking distance to the old town is a real plus. The city's tourism page states that it takes about five minutes to walk from the Grieserwiese along the Isar to the old town. Those taking the Grätzberg instead of the direct riverside path will be rewarded with a particularly beautiful view of the Martinskirche, and this route also takes about five minutes according to the city. Even closer is the parking garage on Wittstraße, which is only a two-minute walk from the old town. Thus, the Grieserwiese is not just a parking lot, but a logistical link between car, city stroll, and cultural program. That is why the search term grieserwiese landshut route fits so well with this place. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
There are also strong reference points for orientation on site. The city connects the Grieserwiese directly with its parking information, and on the location page, the space is treated like a municipal anchor point where free parking spaces, map view, and navigation converge. Therefore, those arriving by car have a clear destination in Landshut without having to first understand complicated city center logic. The combination of short walking distance, proximity to the Isar, and direct connection to Wittstraße makes the Grieserwiese particularly attractive for guests who want to be in the middle of the city but do not want to drive into narrow old town streets. Even the tourist information in the historic town hall is still easily reachable from there; the city states that it takes about twelve minutes on foot. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/node/456))
Especially for visitors who are only briefly in Landshut, this location is a real advantage. The Grieserwiese combines a very large parking offer with a walking distance that remains pleasant, even if you have luggage, strollers, or shopping with you. The view of the Isar, the path along the river, and the direct connection to the city center make the place one of the most efficient entry points to the city center. This also explains why the city explicitly recommends the space in its parking information and why it regularly appears in visitor information, Advent notices, and event pages. For the keyword signals grieserwiese landshut address, route, and maps, this mix of accessibility and clarity is the central added value. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Currently Closed? When the Grieserwiese is Not Usable
The Grieserwiese is not a static permanent parking lot, but an area that is temporarily reorganized as needed. Especially before the Landshut fairs, there are regular closures for markings, setup work, and traffic management. For example, the city reported on April 27, 2025, a complete closure on April 28 from 6 AM to about 2 PM because the spring fair was to begin immediately afterward. It was important to note that parking was not allowed on the remaining areas during this time. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut closed or grieserwiese landshut current should always expect short-term changes as the fair phase approaches. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/news/bauenentwicklung/grieserwiese-am-montag-zeitweise-gesperrt))
The fair setup itself also leads to gradual restrictions. For the Bartlmädult 2025, the city informed that the first area of the Grieserwiese was closed at the beginning of August, and later another part followed. The gravel areas in the back were particularly affected, and at a certain point, no RV spaces were available either. Just before the start of the fair, a half-day complete closure was necessary. This shows that the Grieserwiese cannot simply be considered a normal parking lot during the setup and event phase, but as an event area with a dynamic status. Therefore, it is advisable for visitors not to rely solely on navigation apps but to read the official city notices. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/news/bauenentwicklung/aufbauarbeiten-fuer-die-dult-beginnen?utm_source=openai))
The city communicates such changes not only through news but also through digital service channels. In the Landshut app, a webcam has been added under the general webcams, including an entry for the Grieserwiese parking lot. This is helpful for visitors who want to get a visual impression of the situation before driving. In combination with the city's current news and parking information, a fairly reliable picture of the situation emerges. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut webcam or grieserwiese landshut current are essentially looking for this live orientation: Is there still space, is the area usable, or are there currently closures due to fairs or construction work? Official city channels are the best source for this. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/rathaus/buergerservice/landshut-app?utm_source=openai))
Practically, this means: During normal city center operations, the Grieserwiese is a very generous parking lot with clear rules, but during event times, it can transform into a tightly scheduled event zone. Therefore, one should always check on the day of the event whether only partial areas are closed, whether the back gravel area is still open, or whether the city has already announced a complete closure. This mix of everyday and special cases makes the area so relevant for SEO and user inquiries. Those searching for the terms grieserwiese landshut closed and grieserwiese landshut current do not need a general description but a clear answer regarding the specific day. The official city communication provides the most reliable basis for this. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/news/bauenentwicklung/grieserwiese-am-montag-zeitweise-gesperrt))
Grieserwiese and Events: Fair, Folk Festival, and City Life
The Grieserwiese is historically and currently shaped primarily by the Landshut fairs. The official fair website explains that the city hosts two fairs a year, the Bartlmädult and the spring fair. The Bartlmädult has been around since 1339 and dates back to the founding of the district of Freyung in 1338 when Duke Heinrich XIV granted the citizens a year market. Due to space requirements, the festival changed locations several times before the showmen moved to the Grieserwiese in 1949, and the sales stands followed in 1979. Thus, the area is not just a parking lot but a historical event location with significant urban weight. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/))
Currently, the spring fair 2026 is announced on the fair website for the period from April 17 to April 26, 2026. The page also shows that the fair is organized with amusement areas, sales fairs, programs, festival tents, and many exhibitors. For the Grieserwiese, this means a very strong seasonal change: the everyday parking lot quickly transforms into a large festival area with access routes, security logistics, setups, and its own visitor guidance. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut events usually mean exactly this mix of folk festival, fair, and city festival atmosphere. The fair page describes the area as a place full of fun and joy, which accurately reflects the function of the space without reducing it to a classic parking object. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/))
Particularly striking is the location directly on the Isar. The fair website emphasizes the panoramic view of the old town with St. Martin and Burg Trausnitz, and this city view shapes the experience at the Grieserwiese. Unlike closed exhibition halls or peripheral locations, the place combines open space, river proximity, and historical backdrop. This also explains why the Grieserwiese is often perceived more emotionally in visitor texts than an ordinary parking lot. In the context of events, it serves as a meeting point, arrival zone, place to stay, and visual stage at the same time. For the search intent grieserwiese landshut events, not only the program is relevant but also the environment that makes these events so typical for Landshut. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/aussteller/))
The exhibitor overview also shows how broad the offer at the fairground is: gastronomy, sweet specialties, fish, grilled fish, rides, games, and festival tent operations are listed there in a long and changing list. This proves that the Grieserwiese is much more than just a festival site; it is a modularly used urban area that is filled with life anew every year. For visitors, this means that those approaching the Grieserwiese on fair days should not only think of a parking lot but of a fully organized major event with different traffic rules, different parking prices, and its own access points. This is where the differences between grieserwiese landshut costs in everyday life and the special rates during the folk festival lie. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/aussteller/))
E-Car, Camper, and Other Services at Grieserwiese
For modern mobility, the Grieserwiese offers several special features. First, since April 1, 2025, the statewide rule in Bavaria applies that E-vehicles with E-plates can park for free for up to three hours in public parking lots in Landshut. Second, the city explicitly reminds that in areas with day tickets, including the Grieserwiese, a parking ticket is still required for longer parking durations, and the parking disc must be displayed visibly. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut e car should know this combination rule: yes to free short-term exemption, but no complete abolition of local parking logic. This is important for day visitors who arrive electrically and plan a break in the old town. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
A second important service concerns RVs. The city has created twelve new parking spaces for campers in the northern part of the Grieserwiese. According to the official announcement, there are also water supply, wastewater disposal, three power supply columns, lighting, and further infrastructure. At the time of the announcement, parking was initially even free, with a parking fee machine to follow later. The construction costs were stated to be around 250,000 Euros. Thus, the Grieserwiese is not only a parking lot for day visitors but also a practical location for overnight guests who want to experience Landshut in a mobile and city-close manner. For search queries like grieserwiese landshut costs or grieserwiese landshut current, this camper aspect is a real added value. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/news/bauenentwicklung/zwoelf-neue-stellplaetze-fuer-camper))
However, the camper area can also be temporarily restricted. During the setup work for the spring fair, the city reported in 2025 that the water supply at the RV parking space was temporarily closed. At the same time, parts of the gravel area, Preysingallee, and other sections were affected by work. This shows that the Grieserwiese functions not only as a parking lot but as a fully managed infrastructure area during event phases. Therefore, those arriving with RVs or E-vehicles should not only pay attention to parking fees but also to supplies, closures, and the availability of individual zones. For users, this provides a clear answer to the question of what the Grieserwiese can additionally do in everyday life: park, camp, refuel, and be temporarily rearranged if needed. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/news/bauenentwicklung/aufbauarbeiten-fuer-die-fruehjahrsdult-laufen?utm_source=openai))
In practice, this results in a very flexible usage profile. Day visitors benefit from the free peripheral areas and the proximity to the old town, E-drivers from the new three-hour rule, campers from the newly created parking spaces, and event guests from the official special solutions during the fair. This multiple use explains why the Grieserwiese is so dominant in Landshut-specific search queries: it combines parking, seasonal operations, tourism, and city logistics in a compact space. Especially because different target groups use the same area differently, the clear distinction between normal operations and special operations is so important. Those who plan the Grieserwiese well save time, money, and unnecessary detours. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Public Transport, Shuttle, and Stress-Free Arrival
During fairs, the arrival via public transport and shuttle services is particularly well organized. The official access page mentions about 200 visitor parking spaces directly at the festival site but also refers to free parking spaces at the exhibition grounds and additional mobility offers. For the Park & Ride service from the financial authorities, a round trip of only 2 Euros per person is mentioned, with children up to 14 years traveling for free. The buses run every 20 minutes, and the travel time is about 10 minutes. Therefore, those who want to remain flexible on a fair day can park their car on the outskirts and take the last section comfortably by shuttle. That is why grieserwiese landshut route in combination with Park & Ride is so relevant. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/anfahrt/))
The train is also a good option. According to the fair website, the fairground can be reached from Landshut main station in about 20 minutes on foot. Those using bus line 1 get off at the Grieserwiese stop; additionally, lines 2 and 4 are mentioned at the Ländtorplatz stop. From the southern station, the area is about a ten-minute walk away. For visitors from outside, this is a convenient solution as they can bypass city traffic and arrive directly in the event area. Especially during large events, this is often more relaxed than searching for parking in the center. The fair thus combines the classic folk festival atmosphere with surprisingly well-coordinated transport connections. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/anfahrt/))
Additionally, bicycles and taxis play an important role. According to the fair website, there are bicycle racks on the festival grounds, allowing cyclists to visit the event stress-free. Taxi stands are provided directly on the event grounds at the visitor parking lot as well as at the nearby Grätzberg. If no taxi is available on site, it can be ordered by phone. This is particularly convenient for visitors who want a short and direct journey home after the festival. At the same time, this structure shows how seriously Landshut takes traffic management around the Grieserwiese: car, shuttle, train, bicycle, and taxi are not played off against each other but used as a cohesive system. This also strengthens the search terms grieserwiese landshut maps and grieserwiese landshut route, as orientation here is more than just navigation. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/anfahrt/))
In everyday life, outside of the fair, the Grieserwiese remains an excellent starting point for pedestrians. The five-minute walk to the old town is a real advantage, especially when planning shopping, visits, or dining in the city center. Those also heading to the tourist information can reach it comfortably on foot, according to official information. Thus, a parking lot becomes a mobile city access point that works equally well for visitors, commuters, and day guests. This practical profile explains why the Grieserwiese is one of the most sought-after parking and event locations in Landshut. The place is quick, central, and versatile - and this is reflected in the search inquiries about parking, costs, closures, and events. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
