Grieserwiese Landshut | Parking & Fair
The Grieserwiese is much more than a parking lot in Landshut. The area by the Isar serves as a large visitor parking lot, a motorhome parking area, and a traditional festival site for the Landshut fairs. Officially, the Grieserwiese is located in 84028 Landshut; during the fair, it is listed under the address Wittstraße 13 A, 84036 Landshut. The city particularly recommends the large parking lot because it is only a few minutes' walk to the old town. At the same time, the view of the Isar, the proximity to the city center, and its use as an event space shape the character of this place. Those searching for Grieserwiese Landshut, grieserwiese landshut parking, grieserwiese landshut events, or grieserwiese landshut address are usually looking for a very practical mix of accessibility, fair atmosphere, and central location. This combination makes the Grieserwiese so interesting for day visitors, fair attendees, and motorhome travelers. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/node/456))
Parking at Grieserwiese: Costs, Free Times, and Parking Spaces
For many visitors, parking is the most important reason to search for Grieserwiese. The official parking overview of the city of Landshut names the Grieserwiese parking lot at Wittstraße 1 as a particularly sensible option for the city center, as the old town is about a five-minute walk from there. The front paved area offers 742 parking spaces. There is a daily rate of 1.00 Euro from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; outside of these hours, parking is free. Additionally, there are about 550 free parking spaces in the back unpaved area. This makes the Grieserwiese suitable for both short-term visitors and those who want to park affordably and close to the city. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
The city also emphasizes that the Grieserwiese is recommended precisely because of the limited parking options in the historic city center. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut parking costs, grieserwiese landshut free parking, or grieserwiese free parking will find a very clear, official answer here: payment is only required in the front area during the specified times, while the back area remains free. For vehicles with an E-license plate, there has been a fee exemption of up to three hours on public parking lots throughout Bavaria since April 1, 2025; on day ticket parking lots like Grieserwiese, an additional ticket must be purchased for longer parking durations. The parking disc must still be displayed visibly in the car, and the respective maximum parking duration remains valid for electric vehicles as well. This makes the parking lot particularly attractive for modern city visits, but it can only be truly stress-free if one pays close attention to the city's guidelines. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Grieserwiese Landshut Closed 2026: Spring Fair and Bartlmädult
A second central topic surrounding the Grieserwiese is the question of closures. This is no coincidence, as the site is needed every year for the Landshut fairs and is therefore temporarily remodeled, closed off, and organizationally adjusted. For the Spring Fair 2026, the city will begin the first closures as early as the end of March. From March 27, a first part of the Grieserwiese will be closed for the setup of the festival tents, from April 7, another area will be affected, and from that point on, no motorhome spaces will be available. The Spring Fair itself will take place from April 17 to April 26, 2026. Therefore, those searching for grieserwiese landshut closed 2026 or grieserwiese landshut closed should keep these time periods in mind. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/news/wohnmobilsstellplaetze-an-der-grieserwiese-ab-7-april-gesperrt/?utm_source=openai))
Similar applies in late summer: The city's camping and motorhome page states that the motorhome parking area at Grieserwiese will be closed from August 21 to August 30, 2026. Additionally, the spaces will be only partially usable three weeks before and after these dates. The city explicitly requests that the signage be observed so that parked vehicles do not obstruct the setup and do not have to be towed away. This is particularly relevant for the search intention grieserwiese landshut closed 2026, as the Grieserwiese is not a normal permanent parking lot but a multifunctional space with a strongly seasonal rhythm. Those arriving during the fair should always check the official traffic and parking situation in advance instead of relying on past experiences. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/camping-und-wohnmobile/))
Grieserwiese Landshut Events: Fair Tradition for Centuries
The Grieserwiese is inseparably linked to the Landshut fairs. The city describes the Spring Fair as an annual amusement and sales fair; historically, it is believed that its roots date back to the 14th century and are connected to the inauguration of the Dominican Church in 1386. The historical depth is particularly evident in the Bartlmädult: it has been celebrated annually in late summer since 1339, its name derives from the original date around the feast of St. Bartholomew on August 24, and its origins are linked to the founding of the Landshut district of Freyung in 1338. This development explains why grieserwiese landshut events are so often associated with folk festivals, tradition, and city history. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/veranstaltungen/639-landshuter-fruehjahrsdult-eroeffnung))
The current location on the Grieserwiese was not chosen by chance. The city of Landshut reports that it was not until 1949 that the showmen moved to the Grieserwiese outside the city gates, and in 1979, the sales stands followed. This transformed the central festival meadow into a modern folk festival area, which today is used for rides, stalls, and festival tents. The fair website describes the area as a place with two festival tents, a sales area, and various attractions, located directly by the Isar and with a panorama view of the Basilica of St. Martin and Trausnitz Castle. For the Spring Fair 2026, the official fair page also mentions the tapping of the beer keg at 5:00 PM in front of the town hall in the old town; afterwards, the traditional fair parade with more than 800 participants follows. This mix of historical roots, lively programming, and clearly recognizable city identity makes the Grieserwiese one of the most important places for grieserwiese landshut events. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/veranstaltungen/686-landshuter-bartlmaedult-eroeffnung?utm_source=openai))
Grieserwiese Landshut Address, Maps, and Route
Those searching for grieserwiese landshut address, grieserwiese landshut maps, or grieserwiese landshut route primarily need reliable orientation. The official city page lists the Grieserwiese with the postal code 84028 Landshut and the coordinates 48.53092, 12.14492. During the fair, the site is listed in the official contact details under Grieserwiese, Wittstraße 13 A, 84036 Landshut. This is particularly helpful for visitors, as the access, parking, and event address can vary slightly depending on the occasion. Especially for folk festivals or navigation systems, it is advisable to use the exact event address, not just the general place name. ([landshut.de](https://landshut.de/node/456))
For the route, the city recommends a short walk to the old town. According to the official tourism page, it takes about five minutes on foot along the Isar from the Grieserwiese large parking lot to the city center; a particularly beautiful view of the Church of St. Martin opens up at Dreifaltigkeitsplatz over the Grätzberg. Even the tourist information in the Old Town Hall names the large parking lot Grieserwiese as a practical starting point and estimates the walk there at around twelve minutes. This shows that the Grieserwiese is relevant not only for drivers but also serves as a convenient starting point for city walks, visits to the old town, and the way to the most important sights. Therefore, those entering grieserwiese landshut route or grieserwiese landshut maps are actually looking for a simple, quick connection to the center of Landshut – and that is exactly what this place offers. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/parkmoeglichkeiten/))
Motorhome Parking Grieserwiese: Amenities, Prices, and Closure Times
In addition to the large visitor parking lot, the Grieserwiese also plays an important role for motorhome travelers. The city's camping and motorhome page describes the motorhome parking area Grieserwiese as a spacious parking area in a natural setting by the Isar with a view of the castle. Currently, there are 30 designated parking spaces. Amenities include a parking fee machine with 10 Euros per day, a water supply column with 10 cents per 10 liters, a wastewater disposal column, an additional wastewater channel, and three power supply columns with 50 cents per kilowatt-hour. This makes the area particularly interesting for spontaneous travelers who want to experience Landshut as a stopover, city trip, or visit to a folk festival. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/camping-und-wohnmobile/))
However, it is important to keep an eye on the closure times. According to the official page, the motorhome parking area cannot be used during certain periods due to the Spring Fair and the Bartlmädult. For 2026, the city specifically names the dates April 7 to April 26 and August 21 to August 30. Additionally, the spaces will be only partially available three weeks before and after these dates. Those searching for grieserwiese landshut costs, grieserwiese landshut closed 2026, or grieserwiese landshut parking costs should therefore distinguish between normal visitor parking, motorhome parking, and fair times. The Grieserwiese is a very attractive space, but it is not open for every use at all times. This mix of central location, view of the Isar, and temporary event uses shapes its character. ([erleben.landshut.de](https://erleben.landshut.de/camping-und-wohnmobile/))
View of the Isar, Proximity to the Old Town, and Practical Tips for Your Visit
The Grieserwiese is also popular because it connects city and nature in a small space. The fair website describes the area directly by the Isar with a panorama view of the nearby city center, the Basilica of St. Martin, and Trausnitz Castle. This location makes the place so appealing to visitors: you park close to the city, walk to the old town in just a few minutes, and still feel like you are on the edge of a vast river landscape. For many guests, the Grieserwiese is therefore not just a parking lot but the starting point for an entire visit to Landshut. Those relying on grieserwiese landshut events, grieserwiese landshut maps, or grieserwiese landshut route are often looking for this uncomplicated experience with short distances and a strong local identity. ([dult-landshut.de](https://www.dult-landshut.de/aussteller/))
It is also practical that the Grieserwiese is repeatedly used as a relief area for the city center in the city's traffic concept. During the fair and other major events, shuttle and P+R solutions are implemented, and the city regularly points out that one should inform themselves about current closures before arriving. Those using the Grieserwiese for a visit to the old town should therefore not only look at the price but also at the time, season, and event calendar. This combination of price advantage, proximity to the city center, and event character is what makes Grieserwiese Landshut so unique. For spontaneous guests, it is the fastest way into the city; for fair visitors, it is the natural hub; and for motorhome travelers, it is a very urban parking space with a view of what makes Landshut special.
I came here to park my car. It's a really huge car park with plenty of spaces at only €1 per day!! Great value for money and very central. You wouldn't see this value of parking in München where I live, it's a minimum of €3 per hour here.
