Ice Pirates celebrate, Foxes lose: This is how the DEL2 evening went in the East

Crimmitschau takes advantage of the home evening in the relegation battle and wins 2:0 against Landshut. In Weißwasser, the Lausitzer Füchse remain goalless despite chances and power play and lose 0:3 against Ravensburg.

The DEL2 evening goes very differently for the two East German clubs: While the Eispiraten Crimmitschau secure three important points in front of their home crowd, the Lausitzer Füchse fall behind early – and find no offensive answer to the efficiency of the Ravensburg Towerstars over 60 minutes.

Lausitzer Füchse fall behind early – and find no way to the goal

The Lausitzer Füchse lose their home game against the Ravensburg Towerstars 0:3 (0:1, 0:1, 0:1). In front of 2,648 spectators, the game quickly goes in one direction: Erik Jinesjö Karlsson scores for Ravensburg in the 4th minute.

Weißwasser then works their way into the game, creates chances and also gets power play situations. The effort is there, but the final touch is missing – and that's exactly the difference that can tip games at this level. Ravensburg, on the other hand, remains clear in their processes and increases the lead in the second period: Mark Rassell finishes after a combination with Philipp Mass in the 34th minute to make it 0:2.

The fact that the Foxes stay in the game at this stage is also thanks to keeper Anthony Morrone, who prevents a bigger deficit with several saves. The decision comes right at the start of the final period: Robbie Czarnik scores on the power play in the 41st minute to make it 0:3. This means the Foxes concede a goal in every period – and leave the ice goalless despite their own opportunities.

Crimmitschau takes their chances consistently – Reich keeps a clean sheet

The Eispiraten Crimmitschau win their home game against EV Landshut 2:0 (1:0, 1:0, 0:0) and thus gain some breathing room in the relegation battle. 2,587 spectators see a close, intense game in Sahnpark, in which Crimmitschau strikes at the right moment.

Adam McCormick puts the hosts in the lead in the 15th minute. In the second period, he adds another: In the 37th minute, he increases the lead to 2:0 with a powerful shot – a double strike that shapes the game because it forces Landshut to take even more risks.

The visitors do get good chances, but are repeatedly denied by Kevin Reich. In the final period, the focus for the West Saxons shifts mainly to securing the lead: Crimmitschau defends the advantage with concentration and brings the 2:0 over the line without conceding a goal.

An evening decided by efficiency

Both home games show how much efficiency and attention to detail determine the outcome. Weißwasser creates opportunities but remains goalless – and is punished for mistakes or lack of finishing power in every period. Crimmitschau wins a close game because they capitalize on the few clear moments and the defense, including the goalie, secures the lead.

In the end, it is an evening with clearly separated emotions: Disappointment for the Lausitzer Füchse, jubilation for the Eispiraten – for Crimmitschau with extra weight in the relegation battle.
